During World War II, Steinway & Sons created an extraordinary initiative to support Allied troops through the power of music. Between 1942-1953, they manufactured 2,436 specially-designed pianos known as “Victory Verticals.” These instruments were shipped globally to boost troop morale, bringing the comfort and inspiration of music to soldiers far from home. Today, this project honors their legacy through moving performances by Dr. Garik Pedersen. As a Steinway Artist and professor, Pedersen presents concerts featuring a diverse repertoire spanning classical masterpieces, jazz standards, boogie-woogie, and popular music that connected with audiences of that era.
